The programme of both lighter and more serious items will include a movement of Elgar’s Organ Sonata and tremendous arrangements of Wagner’s Preludes to Tannhaüser and to Act 3 of Lohengrin.
Saturday 13 July – as close to the 4th of July as we could both manage!- features CHESTERFIELD SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA with an American-themed evening including the music of Copland, Bernstein and Dvořák’s ‘New World’ Symphony. Pianist in the less well-known Leroy Anderson Piano Concerto will be Ben Lathbury.
Saturday 27 July sees the welcome return of our near-neighbours THORESBY COLLIERY BAND with an entertaining programme set at the high musical standards expected of a Championship Section brass band.
